What Is WAMITAB Training?
Who Needs WAMITAB Training?
WAMITAB (the Waste Management Industry Training and Advisory Board) qualifications are the recognised way to prove technical competence for permitted waste sites. These qualifications are now awarded through CIWM (WAMITAB), but the content and purpose are the same.

Permitted waste sites must have a Technically Competent Manager (TCM) who holds the right qualification for that type of site. This is often called a Certificate of Technical Competence (CoTC). The WAMITAB CoTC scheme is recognised in Northern Ireland.
Managers named as the technically competent person on a waste permit.
People starting out in the waste and recycling industry.
Businesses that need to meet the conditions of their environmental permit.

FAQs About Japanese Knotweed Removal

Having it on your land is not an offence. But it is an offence to plant it or let it grow into the wild, and once removed it must be handled as controlled waste.

It is not recommended. The wrong method can spread it further, and there are legal rules for how it must be disposed of. Professional treatment is safer and keeps you compliant.

It depends on the method. Herbicide programmes can run across more than one growing season, while excavation is faster but needs licensed disposal. We give you a clear plan after the survey.

It can. Lenders often ask about knotweed, so a clear treatment and management plan helps protect the value of the property.

We provide Japanese knotweed removal in Belfast, Lisburn and across Northern Ireland, for homeowners, developers, and businesses.

Look for fast-growing plants with bamboo-like stems and shovel-shaped leaves. If you are not sure, we survey your site, confirm whether it is knotweed, and map how far it has spread.
